Hey Leos. Before I start, we want to thank those who came out and volunteered their Saturday at the Merced Food Bank for Leo. There was the El Capitan Leo Club, Merced High School Leo Club, and the Omega Leo Club. We packed up canned foods, drinks, and everything in between. We were well fed and we left with a big tub of grape vines, packs of mints, and a pack of PENCILS. Yes pencils. Now when a classmate asks to borrow a pencil you can answer "Here. You can keep it. I got a pack because I was volunteering at the Merced Food Bank for Leo Club" or you can be selfish......like me. lol

The Christmas Parade was a success! Both Merced and El Cap LEO's helped decorate the Eye-mobile and marched down behind it in the parade. We also helped pass out candy to kids along the parade. Afterwards we set up a stand where we gave free hot chocolate and cookies to the public. Merced High School and El Capitan High School LEO's united to help serve at the Stratford Banquet. The LEO's helped decorate and organize the banquet. We also assisted the Lions in the kitchen. Afterwards the LEO also helped clean up and put chairs away. It was a chilly afternoon, thankfully not freezing. This was taken place on the field of the Merced Community College. Volunteers from Merced High and El Capitan came out to volunteer from 3 pm to 5 pm. We carefully took out the flags, wrapped them, and secured them. Each flag represented of those who served for our country. Although it rained, it was great to see the little kids running around with their halloween bags. We held little carnival games where kids could come play and redeem for pieces of candy. We helped out at the festival by setting up games, working with the kids, then helping clean up. Some games were the Potty Toss, hula hoop contest and even face painting. We all had a really fun time. Bonding/Movie Night was only among El Capitan Leos and and El Capitan High School students. We played numerous, fun activities and ate yummy food. We watched a horror movie and got closer with all of our friends. After selling almost 50 tickets of rigatoni dinner, our Leos from Merced High and El Capitan joined together and helped pass out rigatoni dinner. They helped set up, packed food, and gave food to the costumers. Although many people showed up late, it was a great turnout. We were split into two groups. One group would stay at Merced high to supervise games and the other group was sent to Rahilly Park to pass out snacks. Pedal Merced is an event where people rode their bikes for 10 miles!! We helped them register and there were tents set out for everyone to receive free things like bikes, water bottles, wooden airplanes, etc. |
